Their Engagement Session

Jessica and Malik had a fabulous engagement session at the Millennium Gate Museum! The engagement session began with a casual look on the Atlantic Station bridge and this was followed by a brief walk over to the Millennium Gate. After the engagement session, we counted the days to the wedding at The Venetian Room on October 6th, 2017.

Wedding at The Venetian Room

Guests arrived looking very classy with all black attire. Malik was happy to see his bride walk down the aisle escorted by her father Jeffrie Scott. I escorted the bridal party and couple outside for some portraits after the ceremony. I love night time photos as the look is like no other. We returned to the reception with the decor and floral crafted beautifully by Niq Williams Events. The guests danced to the music of Tamarious Hill during the reception. In addition, the bride requested some “creative shots” within the lobby area and we definitely came through on our end. The final request was captured and the couple concluded with a formal send-off with sparklers as they exited the Venetian Room.

Special Thanks

Cain’s Camera would like to thank Jessica and Malik for choosing us to photograph one of the most important days in their lives. It was our pleasure to photograph your wedding and it was our honor to serve. Also, a very special thank you goes to Crystal Pink Events for introducing us to this amazing couple.

Their Story

How did the two of you meet?
We met at Dugan’s Sports Bar in Stone Mountain, Ga. My best friend Shikanah (who is my maid of honor!) introduced us. She had previously worked with Malik at the YMCA. I turned down his offer to give him my number because he wasn’t my type! After a talk with my bestie she convinced me to give him a chance because he was genuinely a “good guy”. The same night we met we ended up talking for a little over two hours and the rest was history!

What did you do for your first date?
Our first date was actually to iHop for brunch. We were both excited to hang out with each other again LOL.

Who proposed and how?
Malik proposed on October 23, 2016 at South City Kitchen in Vinings, GA. I was under the impression that I was going to a photoshoot and dinner with my best friend. When I arrived and turned the corner of the restaurant, I saw him standing along with my closest friends and our families. He had a banner that had our tagline “Forever Mine, Forever Thine, Forever Ours. Future Mr. & Mrs. Cooper”. He gave his speech, dropped down to one knee and proposed. I was completely shocked and excited. It was the best day ever!

Lastly, can you tell us a bit about your plans for your wedding?
We want our wedding to be classy, elegant, and entertaining. We plan to get married October 6, 2017 at 7 pm. Our colors are black, gold, and ivory. We want our guests to enjoy themselves and revel in our the beautiful decor of our wedding! I want to enjoy the evening and have memories for years to come.

My Introduction to Aretha and Jean

It is always great to meet a couple who traveled a long way to meet all their vendors. Aretha, Jean, Sabrina (Crystal Pink Events), and I all sat down at their wedding venue – The Chateau Elan Winery and Resort. The consultation went very well. The excitement from Aretha and Jean made me even more excited to photograph their wedding. We took the time to walk the grounds and get some additional ideas for the event. This is by far one of my favorite venues to photograph a wedding because of the endless possibilities.

The Wedding at Chateau Elan Winery and Resort:

The wedding ceremony took place on June 17, 2017 with beautiful weather and stunning floral decor provided by Chelsea Floral Design. There were memorable moments during the ceremony including the guests’ reaction when Aretha walked down the aisle, the father of the bride’s conversation with Jean, and the sand ceremony. Directly after the ceremony I escorted the family and bridal party to the winery for formal portraits. Afterwards, everyone was ready to relax and dance to the sounds of DJ Glass Dee.

The couple’s portraits were photographed in the vineyard, winery, and by the water fountain. It is always great to work with couples that understand the importance of wedding photography. They typically request as many photos as possible. In the end, this is what the couple is left with and the day can not be photographed again.

Cain’s Camera would like to wish Aretha and Jean the very best! Thank you again for choosing us to photograph your wedding day. Also, a very special thank you goes to Crystal Pink Events for introducing us to this amazing couple. The day went smoothly thanks to Crystal Pink Events and her team.

I met Raquel and Jerry through one of my favorite DJs in Atlanta: Toryn of Exquisite Sounds Entertainment. Raquel gave me a call after finding her DJ. The excitement in her voice was evident. She detailed her vision of her wedding day at the Callanwolde. This would be a memorable wedding with a New Orleans theme filled with fun, tradition, and plenty of family. After our phone conversation I was so excited that I wanted to fast forward to September 3rd, 2016.

The Wedding at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center:

I was so excited to see Raquel and Jerry on their Labor day weekend wedding. Raquel decided that she wanted her and her bridesmaids to where tennis shoes instead of traditional wedding shoes. This was a perfect fit for their personalities. Jerry followed suit by sporting some of his favorite tennis shoes. Raquel and her single friends did a New Orleans cake pull during the reception . This is where one of the friends pulls a charm from the brides cake to see who is next for marriage. At the end of the reception the newlyweds kept with tradition and got in formation for a New Orleans 2nd line dance.

Special thanks to Crystal Pink Events and her crew for another event that ran smooth and was everything the couple imagined.

Their Testimonial

I was referred to Cain’s Camera by Toryn of Exquisite Sounds. We chose to work with Cain’s Camera because their work spoke for itself and I had never seen such amazing photos before. After working withe Jabari we enjoyed his professionalism, his eye for capturing amazing photos, and his patience for dealing with complicated silly people like myself and my husband (LOL).  I have recommended Cain’s Camera to EVERYBODY I know in need of a photographer, including my pastor!  If anybody wants photos that they can look at and get exceptional shots they would be crazy not to choose Cain’s Camera. Choosing Jabari to be my wedding photographer was the best decision made!  Jabari is the most humble spirited professional I have ever worked with. His work speaks volumes and I look forward to working with him in the future. He is my family photographer from now going forward!

I met Deana and MJ through one of my favorite wedding planners Crystal Pink Events. We sat down for our initial consultation and discussed what they were looking for in regards to wedding photography. They were adamant about capturing their personalities through candid photos, formal photographs of the family, and a unique look to their wedding images. I knew we had all these requests covered and could not wait for their engagement session.

The Wedding at the King Plow Arts Center:

Once July came it was now time to focus on the wedding at the King Plow Arts Center. Upon our arrival there was an intimate look to the venue with candles placed throughout the ceremony space. The beautiful drapery was provided by Unique Event Elements and the floral arrangements by Chelsea Floral Design. We quickly captured all of our detail shots prior to the guest arriving and captured a ton of candid moments during the ceremony.

Deana and MJ did not mind taking some additional photos during the reception. We love being able to take as many photos as possible. We took advantage of the time of day with some night time photos and also the artwork around the venue.

Cain’s Camera would like to wish Deana and MJ the very best and thank you again for choosing us to photograph your special day. It was our honor to photograph your wedding and it was our honor to serve. Also, a very special thank you goes to Crystal Pink Events for introducing us to this amazing couple.

Their Story

How did the two of you meet? MJ and I met in 2011 at our workplace! It all started as fun, friendly flirting and escalated quickly and definitely unexpectedly! Its funny because people always preach about it not being a good idea to work with the one you love…well we quickly realized how true this fact was and decided that our new relationship was worth a major sacrifice….and Deana had to find a new job, LOL.

What did you do for your first date? Our first date was simple yet full of chemistry and great vibes! We met for lunch and really wanted to be able to sit down outside of our hectic workplace and really focus on each other and have great conversation without all of the noise and distractions!

Who proposed and how? Perfection! It was Deana’s Birthday and usually she’s pretty low key with her birthday celebrations but this year MJ decided to surprise her with a big surprise party with all her family and friends! It was a total surprise and not even 10 minutes into the party MJ was on his knee asking for her hand in marriage! Deana knew something was up though the moment she noticed that even some of her closest family had come all the way from out of town to attend the party and she’d always expressed to MJ that it meant a lot to her to have her family and friends present when he asked for her hand in marriage! It was truly a dream and it was so much love in the air!

Douglasville Conference Center Wedding Photos | Atlanta, GA Photographer | Kim and Jimmy

Douglasville Conference Center Wedding Photos | Atlanta, GA Photographer | Kim and Jimmy

When I met Kim and Jimmy for the first time during their wedding consultation, I could not wait to photograph their wedding at the Douglasville Conference Center. Not only because there would be a traditional wedding ceremony, but also a traditional Laotian ceremony. With beautiful images captured on their engagement session, I couldn’t help but imagine how their final wedding images would look.

Traditional Laos Ceremony

A day before the wedding Kim and Jimmy had a traditional Laos ceremony at their residence. The morning began with the “hae keuy” procession, which is the groom being paraded to the bride’s home. Jimmy wore a cream colored silk outfit and was escorted under an umbrella held by his friends. Before Jimmy could enter the house he had to take a drink with the bride’s relatives and pay them to open the doors. After several minutes of discussion between the two families, Jimmy was granted permission to enter the household of the bride.

During the “baci” ceremony, Kim wore a beautiful traditional Lao silk sinh (Lao skirt). The ceremony involved chanting by the elders, the tying of white string on wrists to unite the couple, the exchanging of gifts, and an endless amount of smiles. After well wishes from the elders, parents, and relatives of both parties, the tradition continued with Kim and Jimmy being escorted by family members to their room where family photographs were taken.

Douglasville Conference Center Wedding Ceremony

The tradition continued into the following day with the wedding ceremony taking place at the Douglasville Conference Center. This is where friends and family gathered to witness the union of Kim and Jimmy. There were some unique customs including the announcement of the bride and groom’s family members, who were all welcomed to the middle of the dance floor. Once all the family members were present Kim and Jimmy walked out to the middle of the dance floor symbolizing both families uniting as one. The couple also did a toast by going to the table of each guest and pouring a shot of liquor. Everyone at the table toast and gave their blessings to the happy couple.

Cain’s Camera would like to wish Kim and Jimmy the very best and thank you again for choosing us to photograph your special day. We had a blast photographing your union and you are truly loved by your family and friends. Also, a very special thank you goes to Crystal Pink Events for introducing us to this awesome couple.

Getting to Know the Bounloms

Who proposed and how?
Of course Jimmy proposed! He surprised me at my birthday dinner. I had 15 of my closest girlfriends there to witness this special moment. I had no idea! The only one that knew was my best friend. She kept it a secret. Everyone that attended the dinner was surprised. After we ate dinner, blew out my cake, my best friend mentioned she had one more surprise for me. Jimmy walked in with roses (Jimmy always surprises me during my birthday dinners) So I didn’t think nothing of it. I gave him a hug and sat down. When I looked to my right, he was on one knee!! It was crazy I cried like a baby! I actually have that on video tape.

Can you tell us a bit about your plans for your wedding?
On June 24th we are having our traditional Laos ceremony at our home. We will be surrounded by family and few close friends. On June 25th we will be having a quick vow ceremony (we will start as soon as guest are seated and have arrived) at the Douglasville Conference Center. We have a traditonal Laos toasting where we go around each table and pass out shots (yes, liquor shots). Jimmy and I will toast to wine or champagne. We also announce the bride and groom’s side not to mention we will dance in our first traditional Laos dance. It will be a fun and exciting wedding! We can’t wait!

Kim & Jimmy – Engagement Photos (Millennium Gate – Atlanta, Georgia)

Kim & Jimmy – Engagement Photos (Millennium Gate – Atlanta, Georgia)

In the midtown Atlanta neighborhood Atlantic Station rests the “classically-styled monumental arch” called the Millennium Gate. This is a great location to shoot an engagement session no matter the time of year.  Next to the Millennium Gate is a picturesque bridge that serves as a wonderful backdrop for engagement photos as well.  Couples are captured on the bridge with the Atlanta city skyline in the background.  The results are images that are classic and timeless.  Couples are always pleased with the look and style of these Atlantic Station locations.  Kim and Jimmy joined me at the arch and bridge to celebrate their upcoming wedding with engagement photos.

Kim and Jimmy had great chemistry in front of the camera, and this shines through in their engagement photos.  Kim’s candid demeanor and spontaneous smiles were complimented by Jimmy’s humor which kept her laughing. When couples are comfortable and natural in front of the camera, I am really able to get the best pictures.  This couple made it easy.  They came prepared with wardrobe changes which provided different looks for the session, and highlighted their fun personalities together.  They just spent the day interacting with one another and enjoying each other’s company, while having their pictures taken.  An awesome location, plus an awesome couple equals a photographer’s dream.

We at Cains’ Camera look forward to photographing the wedding of Kim & Jimmy on June 25th at the Douglasville Conference Center in Douglasville, Georgia. We send special thanks to Crystal Pink Events for introducing us to this wonderful couple.  Congratulations to Kim and Jimmy!
