Engagement Session at the Millennium Gate

I was excited to hear that Jemal found me via WeddingWire and we scheduled a phone consultation. After learning more about Kinte and Jemal, I was super excited to be their wedding photographer. Their royal blue, gold, and white wedding will take place at The Biltmore on June 28th, 2020 and I know it’s going to be an amazing event! Vendors include The Modern Officiant, O’How Sweet (Cake Artist), and the planner Angelica Rose from Unique Rose Events.

It was great to learn more about Jemal and Kinte during the couple’s engagement session at the Millennium Gate at Atlantic Station. Come to find out Jemal and I went to the same school – Florida A&M University. Their love for one another was apparent with the couple’s candid laughter and smiles during the session. During the session, I wanted to focus on the architecture of the Millennium Gate and make sure of the bridge that was in the same vicinity. When the sun set, the couple did an outfit change. I took advantage of some motion blur from the cars in the background and made use of flashes in the background. If you are interested in photographing here, you will need a permit. A stop from security is a guarantee 🙂

Their Story

Who proposed and how?
Kinte proposed during his birthday party. He had our family fly up for the party and proposal. He had me and two others play a guessing game that required us to take a double shot, spin around, and glance back quickly behind you and to see who could guess how many people were behind you. Of course, I was last to go, after my final spin I was face to face with Kinte on one knee asking me to marry him.

Their Engagement Session

Jessica and Malik had a fabulous engagement session at the Millennium Gate Museum! The engagement session began with a casual look on the Atlantic Station bridge and this was followed by a brief walk over to the Millennium Gate. After the engagement session, we counted the days to the wedding at The Venetian Room on October 6th, 2017.

Wedding at The Venetian Room

Guests arrived looking very classy with all black attire. Malik was happy to see his bride walk down the aisle escorted by her father Jeffrie Scott. I escorted the bridal party and couple outside for some portraits after the ceremony. I love night time photos as the look is like no other. We returned to the reception with the decor and floral crafted beautifully by Niq Williams Events. The guests danced to the music of Tamarious Hill during the reception. In addition, the bride requested some “creative shots” within the lobby area and we definitely came through on our end. The final request was captured and the couple concluded with a formal send-off with sparklers as they exited the Venetian Room.

Special Thanks

Cain’s Camera would like to thank Jessica and Malik for choosing us to photograph one of the most important days in their lives. It was our pleasure to photograph your wedding and it was our honor to serve. Also, a very special thank you goes to Crystal Pink Events for introducing us to this amazing couple.

Their Story

How did the two of you meet?
We met at Dugan’s Sports Bar in Stone Mountain, Ga. My best friend Shikanah (who is my maid of honor!) introduced us. She had previously worked with Malik at the YMCA. I turned down his offer to give him my number because he wasn’t my type! After a talk with my bestie she convinced me to give him a chance because he was genuinely a “good guy”. The same night we met we ended up talking for a little over two hours and the rest was history!

What did you do for your first date?
Our first date was actually to iHop for brunch. We were both excited to hang out with each other again LOL.

Who proposed and how?
Malik proposed on October 23, 2016 at South City Kitchen in Vinings, GA. I was under the impression that I was going to a photoshoot and dinner with my best friend. When I arrived and turned the corner of the restaurant, I saw him standing along with my closest friends and our families. He had a banner that had our tagline “Forever Mine, Forever Thine, Forever Ours. Future Mr. & Mrs. Cooper”. He gave his speech, dropped down to one knee and proposed. I was completely shocked and excited. It was the best day ever!

Lastly, can you tell us a bit about your plans for your wedding?
We want our wedding to be classy, elegant, and entertaining. We plan to get married October 6, 2017 at 7 pm. Our colors are black, gold, and ivory. We want our guests to enjoy themselves and revel in our the beautiful decor of our wedding! I want to enjoy the evening and have memories for years to come.

My Introduction to Deanna and Charles

One of my favorite engagement sessions this year was with Deanna and Charles. Once Deanna inquired about our services, I had an over the phone consultation. I learned more about what they envisioned as far as a wedding photographer. During our conversation I learned that Charles deserved credit for discovering me. After viewing so many different wedding photographer profiles, he saw a uniqueness in my style. This is why I was selected to photograph a very special day to rememberer.

The Engagement Photos at Roswell Mill:

Upon meeting these two, I immediately realized these two had such great chemistry. I knew I would come away with some awesome candids. I’ve been to Roswell Mill a couple of times for engagement sessions. Anytime I visit a place I’ve been before, I always try to do something different. With this in mind I paid less attention to the popular locations such as the bridge and the waterfall. Instead I focused on trails, pathways, and different camera angles. I discussed this game plan with the couple and they were all in!

Deanna and Charles were all smiles on such a hot summer day and we kept cool by staying in the shade. During the first hour we walked along the bridge and p. If you have ever seen my work before, you know I love clouds. I definitely wanted these white fluffy clouds to play a part of our engagement session. While walking back from the trail I noticed how perfect the clouds were and I photographed the couple from the side of the bridge with the clouds in the background. We then decided to have the couple switch into there serial formal attire.

During this down time of transitioning my assistant and I discussed what locations we would shoot next. We decided to focus on the waterfall area, textures, and pathways.

The wedding on September 16th, 2016 at the Venetian was a huge success and I will complete a blog post in the near future.
