Wedding at Rhodes Hall

To begin, this was the second wedding ceremony of Buket and Aaron as they had a ceremony in the bride’s native home of Turkey. They were both excited about the small wedding ceremony at Rhodes Hall. The wedding day began with getting ready photos of the couple at the W Hotel in downtown. I began with robe shots of the bride with her bridesmaids and some popping of champagne to get the day started. Additional prep shots of Buket were taken including her details and dress from Ivory and White Bridal Bridal Boutique. Afterward, I captured some getting ready photos of Aaron in his suit with some amazing window light. Finally, we departed to Rhodes Hall for the couple’s first look.

I’m a huge fan of first looks for many reasons, so I was excited to hear Buket and Aaron’s interest in seeing each other before the wedding ceremony. The couple had a moment to themselves and this was followed by completing all the formal photos. During the ceremony, the guests were serenaded by violinists from Mariwell Strings Quartet. After the ceremony the took advantage of the sun setting on the rooftop of Rhodes Hall overseeing downtown Atlanta. Party Time Productions provided music during the reception including traditional Turkish music for the guest to dance to. I wish you two the best and thank you for including me on your wedding day!

Their Story

How did the two of you meet?
We met in graduate school at Auburn University through a mutual friend named Levent. Levent was in the same program as Aaron (Structural Engineering) and introduced him to Buket one night at a gathering of mutual friends.

What did you do for your first date?
We went to an Italian restaurant in Auburn called Venditori’s.

Who proposed and how?
Aaron proposed to Buket in Piedmont Park on December 9, 2018. Our mutual friends Frankie and Al helped Aaron with the proposal and were there to photograph the moment.

At the beginning of last year Audrey and Harold were featured for their engagement session at Piedmont Park and the Georgia Tech campus. We enjoyed the time hanging out with them and this made us even more excited about their wedding on December 19th, 2015. Months passed and it was finally time for these two to become one at the Crowne Plaza Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia.

The First Look at Crowne Plaza Midtown

We always love a first look for a variety of reasons and our previous blog posting can contest to that. Audrey and Harold decided to do a first look to have a special moment to themselves prior to the ceremony. The spot we selected was perfect and within walking distance of the Crowne Plaza. With Harold’s anticipation building every second, Audrey followed down minutes later. With Harold’s back facing Audrey, we took a couple of memorable photos before the reveal. Once Harold finally turned around to see his future bride, his reaction was priceless. As a wedding photographer this is the type of emotion we live for!

The Ceremony

The Crowne Plaza Midtown offers a breath taking view of the city on the 25th floor. As the guests took their seats, the sun began to set on downtown Atlanta. The officiant Rev Dawn asked the crowd to stand as Audrey walked down the aisle with a gorgeous dress from Anya Bridal. During the ceremony there where plenty of special moments between the two and a lot of emotion from the families. A unique part of the wedding was the hand fasting ceremony. This involved the wrapping of a large ribbon around the couple’s hands while a poem was read by the bride’s aunt.

The Reception

After the conclusion of the ceremony and cocktail hour, the couple made their way to the reception space. Audrey and Harold’s had their first dance to Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheehan. The music throughout the night was provided by Ted Crowder of the Atlanta Wedding DJs. The couple and all the guests had a night to remember and this is evident through the photos.

The newlyweds had a unique formal exit with the help of their guest. Two lines were formed, the guest combined hands with the person on the opposite side, and the couple made their exit underneath the energetic crowd.

Congratulations Audrey and Harold on your wedding and thank you for choosing Cain’s Camera. You two were a blast to work with and we wish you the best!

The Magic of the First Look!

The Magic of the First Look!

While I totally understand why most couples prefer the traditional route of waiting to see each other at the ceremony on their wedding day, if a bride and groom opt for a “first look”, it can be just as breathtaking and memorable and often times more intimate than waiting for the ceremony to see one another.  During the first look the bride and groom take this one special moment of quiet before the ceremony to literally be awed by one another and what they are about to embark upon.   They reflect on what has brought them to this day—the love that they share for one another.

As photographers, we love when couples opt for the first look because we capture some of the most beautiful and heartfelt moments between the bride and groom.

We have seen couples quietly whisper to one another and embrace as we snap pictures.  We’ve seen couples moved to tears as they stare in amazement at one another, realizing that their day has finally come!  We’ve seen grooms who are so overwhelmed by the beauty of their bride that they forget we are even there!  It is as if the bride and groom share this secret blissful moment before the ceremony and they drift off into the love they feel for one another.  We feel so privileged to witness these moments.  You can’t beat the authenticity and candor of the first look.  If you are getting married, do not just assume the traditional way of waiting to see your fiancé at the ceremony is the best way to go, consider the magic of the first look!
